Last Saturday I had the pleasure of heading back up into the Mournes with a few friends. It had been a few months since my last trip, but thankfully the rain stayed away on this occasion and we managed to hike to the summit of Slieve Binnian and back down again in around 4 hours. The mountain mist and low cloud did play havoc with visibility at times but thankfully it cleared enough to allow us to stick to our original planned route.
I never like to head into the mountains without my camera, and so here is one of my favourite images from Saturday. This is the view looking back as we began our approach to Binnian’s summit tors. Here you can see Ben Crom Reservoir with Slieve Bearnagh being smothered in low cloud far in the distance. It’s moments like this that really highlight the beauty we have in our wee country. It also re-affirms to me the power & majesty of our Creator God…
